Avira Antivirus 10.0.0.67 does not update automatically Manual (by button) update works. My guess is that these programs are simply not reporting that an update is in progress when in fact it is.

Uninstall and then clean install - the same behavior. OS: Windows Vista and Windows XP (two different computers). I've noticed that some Anti-Virus products don't appear to be updating, but after rebooting or waiting approximately 5-10 minutes the updates come into effect.

I'm not sure about Avira in particular, but I've seen this occur with F-Prot Anti-Virus, Mc Afee Anti-Virus, Norton/Symantec Anti-Virus (many times), Clam Anti-Virus, and AVG Anti-Virus.

After updating yesterday (the 19th of December) to Firefox 43.0.1, I've found that the Avira Browser Safety "could not be verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled." I have been able to get it back twice now after it removed itself twice by going to Avira's website, but is there a way to get it to stay on and working? They need to supply their users with extensions that are signed by Mozilla, otherwise without an extension being "signed" it will be disabled in Firefox.
